A day at the New York Museum of Natural History

It was a warm Sunday in early April, and we decided to drive to the Museum of Natural  History and Hayden Planetarium.  The drive into the city was a breeze, we went in thru the Lincoln Tunnel, arrived in mid-town and drove up 8th Ave to the Columbus Circle, then along Central Park West, to the Museum.

We arrived in plenty of time to get parking at the Museum, and had purchased our tickets online the night before.  We arrived about a half hour before the museum opened and ended up walking about the neighborhood.  There was a farmer's market going on on the backside of the museum, so we bought some muffins and had a nice little snack.  When it opened, since we had already purchased our tickets, we get them very quickly at a help-yourself kiosk and avoided a long line to get into the museum.  As a result, we found ourselves in a nearly deserted museum for the first half hour or so.  We saw the butterfly tent, a nice exhibit on natural disasters, another or eradicating diseases, and some good stuff on evolution.  In the planetarium side, we did the sky show on dark matter, which for me felt a little disappointing because it is apparent that dark matter makes the math of the universe work out, but they still don't really know what it is.....
Lunch was just okay at the museum food court and somewhat expensive, but then what do you expect?  After all was done, we left the museum about 4pm and drove back home - again, a fairly easy drive for NYC.  We all had a good time, and I got a lot of good photos of the city.
