Washington DC, Fall 2014

A short trip to DC

This was a quick one - we drove down to Gaithersburg, Maryland to visit my cousin MaryAnne, her husband Warren, and my aunt, Hazel for an evening, then a hotel in Bethesda for the night.  The next morning, we took the Metro from Bethesda into downtown DC, walked from the Metro stop to the national Zoo, spent a large part of the day at the zoo, then train back to Bethesda, picked up the car, and drove back home.  Short, but really wonderful, both parts.  We especially enjoyed seeing my aunt Hazel, as she is my dad's older sister, and was 92 at the time.  We also really enjoyed seeing Warren's magnificent garden, that goes on and on!  And of course, Mary Anne is just delightful.  It was just such a great trip.

We walked from the the Metro down to the Zoo.  When we left the zoo, we also walked downhill to the next station further down, then back to Bethesda and our waiting car.

It was such a lovely day, started a little chilly, but warmed up nicely.  And the sky and trees were so bright!
